Kata Beach in Phuket, Thailand

Phuket, Koh Tao, Koh Samui and Ko Pha Ngan are the four most popular islands south of Thailand.  There are other islands though that pepper the Andaman Sea of Thailand and can easily be transverse by ferry rides.

Phuket island undoubtedly attracts the most tourists all year round.  It has been estimated that more than one third of tourists that come to Thailand ultimately make a detour to the beaches of Phuket Island.  The 2004 tsunami that devastated the beaches in Phuket is a shadow now as the island and its beautiful beaches have fully recovered. What is great though is that rates in most hotels in the area are comparatively lower than their pre-tsunami rates.

For the more sporty and adventurous tourists, the months of May to October is the time to ride the waves of Kata Yai and Kata Noi.
