Why I Wear Jewelry

According to Blurit.com, “The use of jewelry for both men and women goes back thousands of years.

Archaeological excavations show us that people were wearing some forms of primitive jewelry before people lived in houses.

It’s a form of human expression, of wealth, personality, wanting to cheer yourself up, an art form all sorts of reasons why people wear jewelry and as old as time.”

“I have tons of jewelry. I like to wear a lot of it.” -Amber Tamblyn

Jewelry is a favorite of mine. To me, there is nothing like the glitter or color combination of stones, ribbons, chains, or charms that send my pulse a quickening.

Being a mother of seven makes it a little harder to keep my jewelry from being broken, especially when the younger girls want to wear it “like mommy.” I have six girls who have developed a taste for sparkle too and have learned to make their own jewelry.

Thankfully, my husband picks out beautiful jewelry and that is what I get for gifts. My two absolute favorite pieces he gave me are: a pair of gold hoop earrings and a gold floral ring. In one hoop, a white gold angel sat inside the hoop “swinging” and in the other hoop a white gold angel hung from the hoop. Oh, I loved that pair of earrings! Our eldest daughter as a toddler crushed the angels with her teeth when she picked them up from my bathroom sink. *sniff* The other favorite piece of jewelry my husband gave me was a gold floral ring with each flower a different color.

I love how jewelry makes me feel like a princess when I feel like a pauper. I love how the sparkle of a beautiful pair of chandelier earrings dangling. Jewelry can change the look and feel of an outfit. I wear a lot of solid colors and then I can wear bold, sparkly, fun jewelry. I have a gold hoop necklace that can also be worn as a belt.

Years ago, while sitting in a hair salon waiting for my turn, this confident woman wearing sweat pants but looking fabulous shared her secret with her stylist. She said no matter what you are wearing, if you put on lipstick and a pair of earrings, you’ll look fabulous!

May you always look fabulous, my fellow gorgeous homemaker! Just because we take care of the home and family doesn’t mean we can’t look and feel a little glamorous too.  What husband doesn’t love coming home to a wife who feels great and looks great?
